Alessandro Mosca has recently joined the Lab Division of SIRIS Academic SL, in Bercelona. His main research interests include disciplinary, as well as, transdisciplinary studies, such as: knowledge representation and reasoning (KR&R), non-classical modal and hybrid modal logics, formal ontology, ontologies, and theoretical foundations of conceptual modeling and databases, cultural evolution and evolutionary studies.
Since 2010 to 2013, he has been research fellow in the KRDB Research Centre, at the Faculty of Computer Science, Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. He studied Philosophy in Milano and did his master's thesis on modal logic representations of first order quantification.
After the graduation, he did a Master's Degree at the University of Milano-Bicocca, and this led to a PhD project at the Department of Computer Science, Systems, and Communication (DISCo) in the same university. He finished his PhD dissertation on a formal model for the design of knowledge-based systems for the chemical compound formulation problem. He has been a postdoc researcher at the Department of Computer Science, Systems, and Communication in Milano-Bicocca, working on KR formalisms based on non-classical logics. The current experience in Barcelona is actually not the first, since he spent several months in between 2009 and 2010 as visiting researcher at the University of Barcelona (UB), Department of Logic, History and Philosophy of Science.
